How to Prepare to Work with Me, Your Web Designer

Working with someone new can be a daunting experience, especially when it comes to something as important as building a website. That’s why it’s important to be prepared before starting any project. In this post, I’ll be sharing some tips on how to prepare to work with me.

Have a clear idea of what you want.

Before starting any project, it’s important to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. This includes knowing the purpose of your website, who your target audience is, and what kind of content you want to include. Having a clear vision for your website will make it easier for me to understand your needs and create a website that meets your expectations. The suggestions below will help so much!

  • Define your website’s purpose: Determine the main purpose of your website. Will it be an online store, a blog, a portfolio, or something else entirely? Knowing the purpose of your website will help you plan its content and structure.
  • Identify your target audience: Determine who your website’s target audience is. This will help you create content that resonates with them and design the website to meet their needs.
  • Plan your content: Plan out the content that will be on your website. This includes website colors (one or two) text, images, videos, and any other multimedia you plan to include. Determine what pages your website will have and what content will go on each page. You will need at least Home, About, Contact, Products or Services, Blog, Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.  Others may be FAQ and Testimonials, though I personally like these to be in the main page.
  • Research websites that you love: Look for websites that inspire you or that have a design or functionality that you admire. Take note of what you like about them and consider incorporating similar elements into your own website.

Be open to suggestions.

While it’s important to have a clear vision for your website, it’s also important to be open to suggestions. As an experienced web designer, I can provide valuable insights into what works and what doesn’t when it comes to website design. Being open to suggestions can help us create a website that not only meets your expectations but exceeds them.

Provide timely feedback

Communication is key when working on any project, and building a website is no exception. It’s important to provide timely feedback throughout the project, including during the design and development stages. This helps to ensure that we stay on track and that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Understand the process.

Building a website can be a complex process, but it’s important to understand the steps involved. This includes everything from planning the website’s structure and content to designing and developing it. Understanding the process can help you better communicate your needs and expectations and can help ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.

Be prepared to invest time and resources.

Building a website requires a significant investment of time and resources. It’s important to be prepared to invest both things into the project to ensure its success. And this includes providing timely feedback, reviewing designs and content, and working closely with me to ensure that your website meets your needs.

I hope that this helps you to prepare! I’m always here to bounce ideas around and I’m always happy to answer questions. The best way to make it work is to ask ask ask! There are no bad questions…really!
